Ravensong Aquatic Centre pool in Qualicum Beach faces closures due to staff shortages

Situation depends on number of lifeguards and instructing staff available

Due to staffing shortages, the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach faces temporary closures and cancelled sessions.

The Regional District of Nanaimo recreation department indicated in a press release the closures were in order to comply with protocols outlined in provincial health orders.

Dean Banman, manager of recreation, said they don’t know exactly when the cancellations will occur, as it depends on the number of lifeguards and instructing staff available.

The RDN indicated it will continue to make every effort to remain open and apologizes for any inconvenience to patrons.
