The Nanaimo Clippers won in overtime to extend their playoff series against the Chilliwack Chiefs.
Clippers’ forward Jérémie Payant scored 15 minutes into the first overtime period in Game 4 on Wednesday, April 19, in the Fraser Valley, as Nanaimo won 5-4 to stave off elimination.
Jake Hewitt scored two short-handed goals and Kai Daniells and Brody Waters also lit the lamp. Shane Shelest was the winning goalie, stopping 37 of 41 shots he faced as his team was outshot 41-32.
Nanaimo had gotten down to its last playoff life after dropping Game 3 the night before in Chilliwack by a 5-2 score. Waters and Hewitt scored in that one and Aidan Campbell suffered the loss in the crease as the Clippers were outshot 32-21.
