Our Team

Publisher

Peter has been a broadcaster and publisher on both of Canada’s coasts and has owned a small newspaper and run an advertising agency along the way. In addition to the VI Free Daily, he oversees business operations for three Black Press Island community newspapers, their websites and a handful of specialty publications.

Managing Editor

Philip spent the majority of his 25-year career with the Nanaimo Daily News, starting as a sports reporter and finishing as managing editor. As the senior Black Press editor for Vancouver Island, he is in charge of the editorial content of the VI Free Daily’s digital and print editions and writes about life in his Between the Lines column.

Content Editor/Senior Writer

John oversees the VI Free Daily’s Island bureau, coordinating content from Vancouver Island’s largest news team and writing on regional issues. He’s been with Black Press Vancouver Island since 1992, spending 15 years of that as managing editor of the Cowichan News Leader Pictorial.

Multimedia Editor

Arnold is the VI Free Daily’s lead photojournalist and videographer, creating and coordinating content from across Vancouver Island. His imagery has been published across six continents through publications including the Globe and Mail, TSN, Sports Illustrated and the BBC.
