In Loving Memory ~
McCallum, Herbert P. (Mac) passed away at his home in Duncan on September 30, 2023 at the age of 95.
Mac was born in Dundurn, Saskatchewan in 1928 to Sam and Ellen McCallum. He grew up curling, playing hockey, and loved all sports.
At the age of seventeen, Mac joined the RCMP and was stationed at Coutts, Alberta. He moved to Vancouver Island in 1965 with Ross and Company Insurance adjusters and met Sheila Taylor. They were married in 1969 and settled in the Cowichan Valley. Here he bought and ran Astro Real Estate Appraisals, became a Notary Public serving the Duncan area for many years, and started RE/MAX real estate offices in Duncan and Chemainus.
When not working, Mac spent his time in his vegetable garden, tending his fruit trees, and on various projects around the acreage. He was active his entire life. He loved playing baseball with the church team and continued ice skating with the grandchildren into his eighties. He was an avid member of the Cowichan Valley Garden Club and helped coordinate displays at the Cowichan Exhibition.
Predeceased by his daughter Naomi Laurie(Adam), he will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila; daughter Cathy Budge; and son Glen(Vicki).
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1815 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan, BC.
