PQB crime report: Vandals strike water treatment building

Oceanside RCMP also deal with night prowlers, cellphone thieves

Oceanside RCMP received 336 complaints the week of July 30 to Aug. 5.

Some of the incidents included:

July 31

• A school building was reported vandalized with a window broken on Faye Road, Bowser.

• A water treatment building was vandalized with graffiti in the 900 block of Lee Road, Parksville.

Aug. 1

• A purse was found by a resident in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville. RCMP were able to reunite with the grateful owner.

• Two cellphones were reported stolen with personal information compromised in the 200 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

Aug. 2

• B.C. front licence plate PL4518 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 700 block of Miller Road, Parksville.

Aug. 3

• Nighttime prowlers were reported ringing doorbells in the 700 block of Arrowsmith Way, Parksville.

• A residential break-and-enter was reported in the 100 block of Beachside Drive, Parksville. A suspect was apprehended nearby and charged.

• A wallet was found in the Parksville Community Park by a resident. The RCMP were able to contact the owner and return it.

Aug. 4

• A business compound break-and-enter was reported in the 1300 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville. Rear B.C. licence plate SA0504 was reported stolen from a vehicle.

• Rear B.C. licence plate J60005 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Beachside Drive, Parksville.

Aug. 5

• Both B.C. licence plates LL399C were reported missing from a vehicle near Northwest Bay Road and Northwest Bay Logging Road, Nanoose Bay.
