PQB crime report: Vandals strike Canada Post mailboxes in Nanoose Bay, Qualicum Beach

Oceanside RCMP also deal with prowlers, car thieves

Oceanside RCMP received 307 complaints the week of Sept. 25 to Oct. 2.

Some of the incidents included:

Sept. 25

• A vehicle was reported vandalized and a safety kit missing in the 200 block of Dunbar Way, Parksville.

• A prowler was reported going through garbage bins in the 400 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

Sept. 26

• A nighttime car prowler was reported in the 200 block of Moilliet Street South, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 200 block of Fourth Avenue West, Qualicum Beach. The vehicle was located the same day with damage to the ignition.

• A nighttime business break-and-enter was reported in the 2500 block of Alberni Highway, Coombs. Damage sustained to an exterior door but nothing noted missing.

• Canada Post mailboxes were vandalized in the 100 block of Garden Road East, Qualicum Beach.

• A garden ornament red decorative bike was reported stolen in the 600 block of Forsythe Avenue, Parksville.

• A daytime prowler was reported in the 400 Island Highway West, Parksville. A male was apprehended and detained by RCMP.

Sept. 27

• Two nighttime car prowlers were reported in the area of Forsyth Avenue and Finholm Street North, Parksville.

• A Stihl HS35 hedge trimmer was reported stolen from a garage that was left open in the first block of Magnolia Drive, Parksville.

• A courier reported that a number of items were stolen from a delivery vehicle in the 1700 block of Oak Leaf Drive, Nanoose Bay.

• A yellow and black XL Norco Storm bicycle was reported stolen in the 700 block of Gaetjen Street, Parksville.

• A black iPhone 8 was found on a trail between Errington and Coombs. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the parking lot of the Deep Bay Marina, Deep Bay. Damage to the ignition and a battery missing.

• A nighttime prowler was reported in the 600 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

Sept. 28

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 300 block of Morrison Avenue, Parksville. The vehicle was recovered later in the day by RCMP.

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized in the 900 block of Chatsworth Road, Qualicum Beach. No entry was reported.

• A blue 2011 Kia Rondo, B.C. licence plate MW589R, was reported stolen in the 600 block of Soriel Road, Parksville.

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized on Kaye Road, Nanoose Bay.

• B.C. licence plate 111XPF was reported stolen from a vehicle on Resort Drive, Parksville.

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized in the 3900 block of Alberni Highway, Qualicum Beach.

•A four-wheel walker was found in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

Sept. 29

• A residential break-and-enter was reported in the 100 block of Wallis Street, Parksville. A sum of money was reported missing.

• Elections signs were reported damaged and/or stolen in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville.

Sept. 30

• Two Scotty downriggers were reported stolen from a boat stored in the 700 block of Wildgreen Way, Parksville.

• A daytime male trespasser as apprehended in the 300 block of Sutherland Place, Parksville.

• A daytime prowler was reported in the 1100 block of Dobler Road, Parksville.

Oct. 1

• Three elections signs were reported stolen from a property in the 900 block of Dornoch Drive, Qualicum Beach.
