Four people transported to hospital with unknown injuries in three-alarm Greater Victoria blaze

A structure fire in the 1200-block of Craigflower Road has been extinguished.

The blaze overtook three mobile homes early Wednesday morning and Craigflower Road was closed between Admirals and Tillicum roads for much of the morning commute while emergency crews remained on scene.

Craigflower Road reopened to single lane alternating traffic at around 8 a.m. West Shore RCMP is asking motorists to be patient while emergency crews continue working in the area.

Fire crews from View Royal, Esquimalt and Colwood, as well as the RCMP, were called to the scene at approximately 5:40 a.m.

Residents report hearing large bangs of what they believe to be propane tanks exploding. Another resident reported seeing flames shooting 100 feet into the air following an explosion.

View Royal Fire Rescue confirmed propane tanks were involved in the fire but did not know the cause at this time.

Four people were transported to hospital with unknown injuries, according to Fire Chief Paul Hurst.
