A search is on for the owner(s) of a young cat who went for quite a ride in an engine compartment of a car.
Amy Viviers, manager of Coastal Animal Services, said the grey and white cat, believed to be between six months and a year old, was found in the engine in a car in Duncan on Dec. 29 and brought to CAS’s shelter.
It’s suspected that the cat climbed into the engine to keep warm.
“The female cat was found in a car that originated in Kulleet Bay (near Ladysmith), so we are assuming that is where she came from,” Viviers said.
“She has no tattoos, chips or any other kind of identification, so we have no idea who her owners are. But she’s very friendly.”
Viviers said CAS has posted pictures of the cat on social media sites to see if its owners can be located, but no one has come forward as of Jan. 5.
“We already have someone who is willing to adopt her if the owners have not been found as of Jan. 8,” she said.
Anyone with information on the cat’s identity can call CAS at 250-748-3395.
