Meet Gus: Vancouver Island’s first baby of 2024 born in Greater Victoria

Ferguson ‘Gus’ Kenneth Ouellet Mitchell, Vancouver Island’s first baby of 2024 was born at Victoria General Hospital at 2:06 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

He was welcomed by his mom and dad, Nadia and Alex, from View Royal, alongside his big sister Saoirse. He weighs seven pounds and eight ounces.

The first B.C. baby was born at 12 a.m. New Year’s Day at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.

They weigh six pounds and 14 ounces.
