Photo submitted by Claude Lalande. “… a wonderful service our local fire department is participating in offering to drive by homes to help residents celebrate in a special way. They provide a great service to our community and I’m really impressed by the way they came through to make Bob’s (pictured with wife Irene) birthday just a bit brighter.”Photo submitted by Claude Lalande. “… a wonderful service our local fire department is participating in offering to drive by homes to help residents celebrate in a special way. Photo submitted by Mike Yip of Nanoose Bay. “The beautiful male Mandarin Duck was a rare visitor at Morningstar Pond last week. Although most birders think that it was an escapee from a hobby farm, there is no reason that it can’t be a vagrant from southeast Asia. The Eurasian Wigeon routinely migrates annually from the same region, and it is an easy trip by island hopping across the Aleutian Islands.”Photo submitted by Mike Yip of Nanoose Bay. “The beautiful male Mandarin Duck was a rare visitor at Morningstar Pond last week.
