Downtown Sidney was awash with rainbow flags, colourful clothing, and smiles all around Saturday (June 17) as the community marked Pride Day.
Organized by the Sidney Business Improvement Area Society, Pride Day saw many of the local businesses set up colourful window and curbside displays, host activities like face painting and selfie stations, and offer special deals all in the name of celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community.
Walking down Beacon Avenue, nearly everyone carried a rainbow flag, colourful balloons, or a shirt reading “Love is Love.” Some went even further, donning rainbow wigs or even large rainbow flags as capes.
Even four-legged visitors to the town showed their support with rainbow bandanas and collars. The day even featured a pet walk and costume contest.
