Swimmers and sunbathers flocked to the new floating dock on Langford Lake on a warm Friday (July 21) afternoon.

Portions of the Ed Nixon Trail had been closed since December to allow for construction to take place, which among other changes included improvements to the habitat for western painted turtles in the lake continues. The work included adding basking logs, removal of invasive species and the addition of fencing to protect sensitive habitat areas. The trail is now reopened.

There was also some tree limbing and new seating added along the trail, plus the floating dock.
